What Advice Do You Have For the Young and Ambitious?
The best way to figure out life and every aspect that surrounds it is by falling down a million times over, and truly living your life. Everyone has a different definition of what truly living means and everyone experiences and lives life very differently. However, coming up with your own definition for the matter is actually quite easy.
First of all, creating your life is the first step. The path that you are destined to go down through your life does not have to be a strict one. Have fun, do whatever you want for a while, but make sure you get down to business at the end of the day. Like the saying goes, “if you woke up broke, you had no business going to sleep,” it’s just that simple. Sure, you’re stuck and don’t know what career to go into or what you plan on doing, but it’ll come to you. You’ll hear a lot of people supporting you with whatever decision you make, but that in itself is wrong. There should always be someone there telling you no way. Why? Because that will make you try harder, and will help to steer you away from the places you should not be going.
Creating your life is basically a mix of hopes, goals, dreams and reality. For example, you wanted to be an astronaut when you were little. However, now that you’re older, do you really want to go to space? It’s the same thing as, do you really want to get out of bed? Yes, yes you do and no, no you don’t. Creating your life is confusing, it’s exciting and it takes time. You really cannot give anyone ambition first hand because they’ll run to the hills with it. So, to sum that entire up, watch how things pan out.
Secondly, defy everything that you think you know about life. Nothing should matter to you other than your own success. You will only learn through experience, which is why your parents told you not to touch the stove when it was on, but you did anyway. You learn by doing, and by defying. Defy every single rule, logic and, heck, defy gravity. Live while you’re alive, because you’ll be having fun and defying everything you’ve ever known at the same time. By experiencing what works and what does not, you’ll have a much clearer imagine than you did five minutes ago.
Third, explore everything you have ever seen. However, do not go in that abandoned house. I’m not saying to go running around town snooping like a chicken with its head cut off, but if you see a place that intrigues you, run to it like your life depends on it. It’s the same for life choices. If you want to be an abstract painter, explore that idea. Buy some paint and make some messed up pieces of art work. Don’t like being an abstract painter? That’s totally fine, because you still explored something that could be for you. Write a novel, jot down some horrible poetry, it still counts as exploring.
When you try something new, and I’m not talking about food, you’ve just taken another step into figuring out your life. Create, defy explore. Those three categories all fit snug like a bug in a rug together because they work. Create ideas about what you’d like to do, defy the rules that go with that idea, and explore the heck out of that idea until you figure out whether or not you hate it or love it.
